I Predict a Riot

...And I'm sure many other people predicted riots too. Firstly, let's get one thing very, very, irrefutably clear, I do not and never will condone thoughtless acts of violence against innocent hard working people. Now that's sorted...I do understand the fustrated, angry and shocking actions, hopeless children, teenagers and those older took. As I am one of them. No I didn't throw bricks at police or loot any stores, or break the law in any way that week...but, even though I've not been in trouble with the police before etc, I've certainly considered joining them.

Let me tell you a story, one we are all told from a young age. A child is born into poverty in Britian, because of the lives their parents led or whatever. Suffers abuse, has a general hard time, blah blah, I won't bore you with a sob story, that is not what this is, because it's all O.K, this child is hard working, nmaybe even very inteligent/talented, they're a good child that follows the rules etc...so take a guess what future befalls these youths?...What's that? - A good and happy one, of good employment and academic opportunities, even if they are not bright, vocational opportunities? In a capatilist society where these otherwise impoverished children would be uneducated and cast aside as labour fodder, in good 'ole Britain there must be suitable places for these hard working youths? Where they can break the cycle of poverty? Live happy law abiding lives?...No. That is what  Britian says today. It's easy to see who the government is looking after and who they couldn't care less about. I must say it is very clever to attack people who, in some cases, aren't even old enough to say: 'Dam it, I knew I shouldn't of voted for them.' Like it or lump it, it's what others voted for you and there is nothing you can do about it...except rise up.

The young and the working class are bombarded everyday with more news that their trains fares have suddenly been hiked up (metro, evening standard)...nothing you can do about it, cough up. The cost of rent has gone up (evening standard)... nothing you can do about it, cough up. The price of the very food you struggle to survive on as it is...yep, that's suddenly too expensive, cough up, or go hungry. Soon you won't even be able to say 'sod paying tax and more tax and V.A.T, to struggle to live whilst in full time work...I'll claim benefits!' ...is it just me, or is this starting to sound like slavery of the less fortunate? It is certainly how I feel, which means it's likely many others of my generation will too. It seems like a catch 22, we are fed by teachers and police etc from the age of 4 that you need to do well in school, be obedient, and you should have a pretty good standard of life. As I can say personally, it's not quite true is it? You can work as hard as you like, be as law abiding and as clever as you like. In this new day and age, the likes of the elite, the politicians and bankers will make decisions above your head whether you starve because of it or not. If you are born into a 'low income' family etc, you're either incredibily lucky (and I mean incredibly) ...or you'll have a second class education, job, home, as you were born into...and of course you'll be paying for others to have everything first class, through bank charges, interest and of course tax, tax and more V.A.T...No you can't have a pay rise. Anyone still confused as to why certain groups of people might be a tad fustrated? You can write angry letters to your M.P and vote when you're old enough...but nothing seems to have got people finally talking like a riot. For this, I am actually in debt to rioters - apart from those found to be rather well off and well connected (no employed in a below average wage job doesn't count as 'well off') you guys have no exuse. But Lord knows I am far too meek to take such reckless action, I'm still brainwashed by the 'work hard etc and you'll reap what you sow' system (I know, what a mug)...I just wish ONE of you looters/rioters, just ONE had a plaque card or something that the middle/upper classes could translate into their happy rich bubbles as a problem, not a frightening criminal. Never have the youth possesed such power, spread such fear...and you used it to get new trainers?? Clearly this shows how helpless we young really are. My feathers were thoroughly ruffled when parliment stated 'they (the rioters) have no political agender, it is just opportunistic thuggery' ...you are proffesional politicians right? Surely they should know, rioters, just by exsistence, don't have to have a political agender...they ARE a political agender, one that needs to be addressed and most certainly listened too. However to any rioters/looters that may read this...target a well known bank or high street chain next time, with some plaque cards or (free to make) chants atleast? (Who knows how expensive a bit of cardboard and a marker pen wil be soon!) Please don't attack the community, but the young are supposed to learn from their mistakes right? That's growing up.

To any politicians reading...why are there not headlines and discussions regarding the harsh sentences for the 'disgusting/dispicable/opportunistic/feral' actions of bankers on the nations communities and economy?...Oh right...because there weren't any harsh sentences for them, they're sat in their luxurious homes muttering about the youth of today: 'disgusting...dispicable...where on earth did they learn such a disregard and disrespect for other hard working decent people?!' ...I wonder. I'm aware of course, on an international scale bankers are vital, Britain needs to keep competitive rates etc...but surely we have evolved as a species from those with all the money ruling over entire countries in such a dictatorial fashion? ...No? They're just making more money off the life saving debts that are inescapable for the lower classes today and we are all O.K with this?...I can't be the only one who thinks we all have every right to start rioting and protesting when faced with such mind-blowingly oppressive facts. We all have a responsibility, if you don't agree with something to speak out, take action and protest. Don't leave it to your kids to speak out, when they clearly don't even know how to yet.
